The K-6th grade academic program at Cornerstone is focused on developing a firm foundation of basic skills. Students receive instruction in Language, Reading, Vocabulary, Spelling, Writing, Handwriting, Math, Science, Bible, and Social Studies as well as Computers, Art, Music, and Physical Education. Cornerstone uses curriculum published primarily by BJU Press and Saxon.
Annual standardized Testing
Elementary students annually complete the Terra Nova norm based achievement test. Over the past five years, Cornerstone students have scored on average in the top 25% of students nationally.

Margie Luce - Kindergarten
Miss Luce graduated cum laude from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a minor in English. In addition, she attended Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas for a summer and has 36 graduate credit hours in education. She has held her Colorado Department of Education teaching license for over 30 years. Margie taught eight years at Faith Christian Academy in Arvada before joining the staff of CCA at its inception in 1996. Margie has traveled to England with the Luis Palau crusade, and spent a summer in Tokyo with YWAM doing missions work.
Karen Cox - Kindergarten
Mrs. Cox earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Oklahoma. She has over ten years of classroom teaching experience. She has taught 1st - 5th grades in the Norman Public Schools in Oklahoma and worked with 4-5 years olds as a lead preschool teacher in Early Learning with the City of Broomfield. Mrs. Cox joined the Cornerstone faculty in 2016.
Nancy Moodie - 1st Grade
Mrs. Moodie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and pursued her elementary teacher licensure through Colorado Christian University. She has three years of preschool teaching experience and over ten years of elementary teaching experience. Mrs. Moodie first joined the Cornerstone faculty in 2011.
Beth Floyd - 2nd Grade
Ms. Floyd has seven years of experience teaching in christian schools and more than 10 years of experience teaching in children’s ministry. She holds a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Regis University and a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries/Mission with an emphasis in writing curriculum and a minor in Spanish from Asbury College. Ms. Floyd joined the CCA faculty in 2013.
Terese Roob - 3rd Grade
Mrs. Roob holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Psychology from Colorado State University. She has also earned a Master of Education in Differentiated Instruction from Graceland University and is a Colorado Department of Education certified Elementary Education teacher and K-12 Gifted and Talented Specialist. Mrs. Roob has over 10 years of elementary education experience, including teaching 1st and 3rd grades and overseeing a gifted and talented program. She joined the Cornerstone faculty in 2016.
Molly Rumbyrt - 4th Grade
Ms. Rumbyrt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Elementary Education. She also holds her teaching license from the Colorado Department of Education. Ms. Rumbyrt has elementary teaching experience as a long-term substitute and has served as a teacher assistant in the christian school environment. She joined the Cornerstone faculty in 2016.
Vickie Whitehead - 5th Grade
Mrs. Whitehead returned to Colorado after eight years in the Philippines where she taught upper elementary at Faith Academy, a well known ACSI school of over 500 students. She received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Western Bible College/Colorado Christian University. She is very involved with children’s ministry at her church, Calvary Evangelical Church. Mrs. Whitehead joined the CCA faculty in 2013.
Diane Cunningham - 6th Grade
Mrs. Cunningham earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in English from Tabor College in Hillsboro, KS. She taught 5th and 6th grades in private Christian school for 8 years. Prior to that she home schooled her own children and taught in public school. She joined the CCA Faculty in 2015.
Beth Longtine - Art
Mrs. Longtine holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Edgewood College in Madison, WI. She homeschooled her seven children for 20 years, and taught art at a homeschooling enrichment program for 8 years. She joined the CCA faculty in 2011.
Cathleen Kellerman - Music
Mrs. Kellerman graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Nyack College in New York. She has received an Excellence in Teaching Award and is a trained Kindermusik instructor. Prior to joining the faculty at CCA, she managed the Fortissimo Music Studio teaching Kindermusik, summer camps, lessons and worskshops, taught high school band, choir and music appreciation at Paramus Catholic High School in New Jersey, and served on staff as the worship leader at Neighborhood Alliance Chuch in New York. Mrs. Kellerman also has over 15 years of experience teaching private instrumental lessons. She joined the CCA staff in 2012.
Troy Boyer - Physical Education
Mr. Boyer received his Bachelor of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Physical Education at Metropolitan State College of Denver. He holds a teaching certificate from the Colorado Department of Education and a Local Church Ministers License and is a youth leader at Trinity Christian Fellowship in Northglenn. He played collegiate soccer at Sterling College in Kansas and co-led a soccer camp for elementary to middle school age children (focused on sharing the gospel through the common language of soccer) in Birmingham, England. Mr. Boyer is an alumnus of Cornerstone, class of 2003, and joined the CCA faculty in 2007.
Karen Turner - Reading Interventionist
Ms. Turner is a Montana native. She graduated from the University of Montana Western with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and an Associate of Arts in Early Childhood. She has extensive training in reading intervention and worked in the Colorado public school system as a classroom teacher, reading interventionist, literacy coach, and librarian before joining the CCA staff in 2009.
Patti Morton - Elementary Aide
Mrs. Morton taught Physical Education and served as an aide at CCA for the first ten years of the school's existence. She has also coached volleyball at CCA for over 10 years, and was part of the CCA Faculty at the inception of the school in 1996.
Tommy Thomas - Golf Coach & Adjunct Faculty
Mr. Thomas played on the PGA tour and served as the PGA Head Professional at Inwood Country Club (retired as Pro Emeritus) in Long Island, New York. He is currently the Tournament Director for the Tommy Thomas Barona Pro-Am Golf Tournaments and on the Colorado PGA Junior Golf Committee where he plays an active role in all of the junior golf activities in the state of Colorado. At CCA, Mr. Thomas teaches golf, serves as the Assistant High School Girls Basketball Coach and annually teaches poetry to 8th graders. Mr. Thomas is committed to building a school golf program through physical education and athletics that is recognized as the finest in the state of Colorado. He joined the CCA staff in 2011.
